Velociraptors were ferocious predatory dinosaurs of the late Cretaceous with huge slashing claws on their feet which they used to disembowel their hapless prey. Floating through the sky is a surviving, thriving contemporary, the Gar which today can be found in Midwestern and Southern U.S. rivers. Alligators are ancient survivors too.
