LIVING UNDERWATER
Southeast Alaska is one of the rainiest places on earth. It is a situated within a temperate rainforest after all. Ketchikan is widely known as the “Rain Capital of Alaska” and is the rainiest big town in the state. It typically receives an average of 140 to 160 inches of rain each year, more than five times as much as Seattle. Little Port Walter on Baranof Island is often cited as the wettest small town in the state, averaging approximately 225 to 237 inches of precipitation every year. It can rain so hard that the line between land, ocean and river can become blurred.
Actual measurements may vary +/- .75 inches
