ETERNAL SALMON ART POSTER

When I first drew the Salmon Peace Sign I included a full circle of salmon in the background showing their complete life cycle from eggs to alevin to smolts, oceangoing adults, spawning adults and then death. What’s cool and sort of “tripppy” about it, is that when the adults die in their home-streams their decaying bodies help feed the young when their remains are washed out to sea. That helps to trigger a plankton bloom that then feeds the young salmon as they first venture out to sea. Cool, eh? This whole eternal salmon cycle has been animated in Mark Titus’s amazing salmon film ‘The Breach”. Todd Soliday did the post production work on the film and made my salmon circle a moving, spiraling animated piece of art. The simple message is this: if we take care of the wild stocks of salmon they will go on feeding us forever. Memo Jauregui did the colorizing on this.
