Amazon

I made my first trip down to the Amazon river region in Brazil in 1997 and was so inspired I painted a 7 by 15 foot fish-filled mural when I returned home to Ketchikan. That painting later graced the cover of Natural History magazine in 2001. I returned to the river three more times over the years always traveling with Moacir Fortes on his beautiful fleet of river boats. I eventually amassed a body of work that became a part of a major traveling exhibit called “Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches”. The show was masterminded by the brilliant Sean Duran, exhibits head at the Miami Science Museum. The exhibit traveled around the world for years and was eventually seen by over two million people.
